Un hommage solennel lui a \u00e9t\u00e9 rendu par le tournoi, ponctu\u00e9 par la pr\u00e9sence de ses trois plus grands rivaux \u2013 Federer, Djokovic et Murray \u2013 r\u00e9unis autour de lui pour une image symbolique : celle de la fin d\u2019une \u00e8re.
Une plaque comm\u00e9morative portant son empreinte de chaussure a \u00e9t\u00e9 scell\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e du court, \u00ab pour que chaque joueur sente ce que c\u2019est que de dominer ici \u00bb, a gliss\u00e9 Novak Djokovic. Nadal, visiblement \u00e9mu, s\u2019est adress\u00e9 au public en fran\u00e7ais, espagnol et anglais, remerciant \u00ab la France, Roland-Garros, et surtout le public qui l\u2019a toujours soutenu m\u00eame dans la douleur \u00bb.

Quelques heures apr\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e9motion, le tournoi reprenait ses droits. Sur les courts, la nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration a rapidement montr\u00e9 les crocs. Aryna Sabalenka, num\u00e9ro un mondiale, a balay\u00e9 Kamilla Rakhimova (6-1, 6-0) avec autorit\u00e9. Lorenzo Musetti, de son c\u00f4t\u00e9, a surclass\u00e9 l\u2019Allemand Yannick Hanfmann en trois sets secs, confirmant son statut de s\u00e9rieux outsider cette ann\u00e9e.
C\u00f4t\u00e9 tricolore, deux espoirs ont fait vibrer les tribunes : Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, 21 ans, a remport\u00e9 avec panache son tout premier match \u00e0 Roland-Garros contre le Belge Zizou Bergs. Un succ\u00e8s encourageant pour celui que certains voient d\u00e9j\u00e0 comme l\u2019h\u00e9ritier du tennis fran\u00e7ais. Quentin Halys a quant \u00e0 lui profit\u00e9 de l\u2019abandon de Tomas Machac apr\u00e8s un premier set accroch\u00e9, mais remport\u00e9 au tie-break.
